To help prevent Covid-19 from entering and spreading throughout our Community, our Chief and Council endorsed an application to Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) for Community Health Checkpoints, and this past week, the application was approved! With no time to spare, we began developing the program, and are excited to announce that the Covid-19 Community Health Checkpoints will be in place at 6:00 am on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
When you arrive at one of the two main Community entrances, staff will greet you, take your temperature and all those in the vehicle, ask you a few Covid-19 screening questions and give you a card to place on your dash.
Main entrance: Open 24 hours per day / 7 days a week.
Old Yale Rd. entrance: Gate will be open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. After10:00 pm, the gate will be closed and traffic will be required to enter the community through the main entrance.
Community Shelter entrance: Concrete barriers are currently in place and a gate will be installed in the next few weeks closing it off to traffic for the time being.
McGregor Rd. entrance: A gate will be installed in the next few weeks but it will not be staffed at this time.
Thank you for your patience while we implement these changes. We understand that the Community Health Checkpoints may cause inconvenience, but feel it is a necessary initiative in order to protect the health and safety of our Elders and Community members.
